The Operations Department implements mosquito and vector control prevention strategies in the field.

Long-term mosquito prevention is accomplished by incorporating Integrated Vector Management (IVM) methodologies, which uses a combination of applied field techniques involving physical, chemical, and biological control methods.

Responsibilities of operational field staff include inspecting neglected pools and ponds, channels, underground storm drains, spreading basins, rivers, flood channels, street gutters and urban mosquito breeding sources.

Operations staff also work with city officials and other public agencies to improve infrastructure and communicate public health threats.
